Inteliports developed and trialling world’s first automated mobile drone port solution across the UK.

March 20 2023

Inteliports has developed a prototype mobile drone port solution through the Connected Places Catapult accelerator ‘The Future of Air Mobility’. Developed with Inteliports’ autonomous ground systems and in partnership with with Cranfield University, Coventry University and Connected Places Catapult, the mobile drone port is capable of deploying, receiving multiple drone missions as well as charging, storing the fleet and managing the goods that they carry. The Inteliport GO is paving the way forwards to solving key challenges in the UAS & AAM sector of how drone missions are handled at ground, and how they can be implemented at business ends. With complete automation of drone and goods handling, Inteliports is increasing the safety of drone operations and reducing the skill gap required to implement UAS logistics at scale.

The solution, based off of a 20ft ISO container, is equipped with expanding wings that are actuated to increase the landing area at the top, where various drones can safely land with high wind tolerance. The Inteliport GO can be readily transported and rapidly deployed with a form factor that can fit on most sites.

Having undergone testing and demonstrated at the Dartec facility at Cranfield Airfield, the Inteliport GO is due to be deployed for NHS missions in the use of autonomous blood deliveries via drones.

Glimpses of the inteliport GO can be seen in this film made by Connected places Catapult.
